The Mountain View Science and Technology Society (MSTS) 2025 science fair will take place on March 1, 2025 at École Olds High School in Olds, Alberta. Use the buttons below to register as a student participant, or volunteer as a judge.
The 2025 fair will use a new judging system. Make sure you review the appropriate judging form for your grade and project type:
Elementary projects (grades K-4): experiment judging form | research/study judging form
Secondary projects (grades 5+): experiment judging form | research/study judging form
8:15 - 8:45 AM: Project set-up - enter through east doors of Olds High School
8:15 AM: Judging Orientation Starts
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Judging. All grade K-12 students must be at their projects. Parents must not be in the judging area! You are welcome to wait in the Commons area (main hall)
12:00 - 1:00 PM: Lunch break (bring your own)
1:00 - 2:00 PM: Public viewing
2:00 PM: Awards program
All projects must be removed after awards.
Parents need to realize that any disruptive and inappropriate behaviour on the part of their child/ren could result in disqualification.
Each project MUST have a log book. It is a dated diary of the steps that were followed to do the project. It is not a neat document.
Parents will be asked to leave the exhibit area during the judging process (9:00 AM to noon). They need to remain outside the judging area until all judging has been completed. Committee members will be available to take things to your child.
During the public viewing, the students are required to remain at their project.
The participants need to have indoor shoes for the day.
We strongly recommend that the student use photos and videos to record their experiments. They will NOT be allowed to do their project for the judges at the fair. Plants, soil, things with uncovered moving parts, liquids, food (including eggs), chemicals, animals, water, sand, oil, vinegar will NOT be allowed.
